The Damien Center is seeking a full-time Development Manager. The Development Manager is an integral part of a small fundraising team and is responsible for managing all aspects of the annual fund, oversight of the donor database, and for assisting with the planning and implementation of fundraising events. Successful candidates must have 3-5 years successful development experience, be proficient in The Raiser's Edge or other donor databases, and possess a Bachelor degree and/or CFRE. Job Title: Development Manager
Department: Resource Development
Reports to: Director of Development & Communications
The Development Manager will work closely with the Director of Development & Communications and other department staff to ensure the success of fundraising efforts at The Damien Center. Primary focus will be on managing the annual fund, donor database, and fundraising events.
Full-Time Equivalent/37.5 Hours Weekly
Manage all aspects of the annual fund
Develop, with Director of Development, an annual fund work plan that will include specific fundraising goals and targets
Responsible for planning and implementing multiple direct mail and other appeals annually with a high degree of customization, including mailer design and mailing list production
Make creative connections between and among people, events, programs, and their associated circles
Oversee budgets, progress, deadlines, goals, and objectives related to responsibilities
Assist with individual donor stewardship and solicitation by maintaining a portfolio of donors and ensuring accuracy of donors records
Maintain personal contacts with donors on a regular basis, and track contacts in donor database
Assist with the identification and qualification of donor prospects
Meet face to face with donor prospects to build relationships and solicit donations as appropriate
Facilitate meetings and face-to-face solicitation with management and board leadership as appropriate
With Director of Development and Marketing Manager, plan and implement donor events with the aim of increasing society membership
Assist in management of the donor database (Raiser's Edge)
Develop and run weekly/monthly/quarterly reports from donor database
Perform queries and process reports as needed
Perform internal prospect research utilizing current donor records and information
Assist with oversight of timely donor acknowledgements and communications
Maintain accurate giving society membership lists in Raiser's Edge and ensure that all members receive appropriate recognition and benefits according to development plan.
Track all contacts with individual donors in Raiser's Edge
Maintain and enhance the structure of attributes, code tables, business rules, and all other set-up functions
Maintain data integrity by establishing and implementing system checks and regular updates
Assist in the management of all major fundraising events, including Grande Masquerade, Dining Out for Life, Giving Society events, and other donor related events
Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities
Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters
Assist in the preparation of guest lists, materials, auction items, registration lists, seating cards, etc.
Assist in the preparation of event budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project
Prepare and modify event contracts as requested
Assist with event specific data entry
Assist marketing manager in the creation and management of event-related materials
Proven success in managing a comprehensive set of development functions, including annual fund and special events
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
3-5 years development experience, including annual campaigns
Knowledge of fund development principles and public relations
Strong organizational, administration, telephone and interpersonal communication skills
Strong word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet experience
Experience working with donor databases, preferably Raiser's Edge
Skill in preparing written reports and presentations
Solid writing, editing and presentation ability
Professional demeanor, flexible and able to respond to multiple demands
Able and willing to take responsibility
Must possess reliable personal transportation
Must have auditory, visual, and physical skills to be able to perform tasks as outlined in this job description
Must be flexible regarding work schedule
Commitment to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy in donor records
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
3-5 years of development experience, including annual fund, database, and event management.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Ability to work specific evenings and weekends as needed
