At The Damien Center, our complete focus is on our patients. By bringing both medical and supportive services in-house, we've established a one-stop medical home so that our patients can easily access the services they need. Working together, we can decrease our community HIV viral load and improve the overall health of our patients.
Our approach provides essential services for both HIV+ and high-risk HIV- individuals. Our patient-centered approach offers a medical home with easy access to primary care and supportive services. Research has shown that this approach greatly benefits those with chronic medical conditions like HIV. Improving access to a medical clinic, mental health services, substance abuse counseling, medical case management, career development services, housing, and nutrition also improves compliance with medical care and HIV treatment, resulting in reduced viral loads and healthier individuals.
The Damien Center currently partners with Damien Cares Clinic to provide medical care at The Damien Center. This clinic partnership enables us to address the medical as well as the supportive services needs of our clients, a key factor in ensuring that they are able to work toward self-sufficiency. In addition to clinic staff, our medical case managers also work closely with each patient.
